Helping Others with Manners and Education Award
Purpose: The H.O.M.E. Award supports initiatives that enhance students' self-esteem and achievement levels through educational projects and events that primarily promote learning and discipline as the main focus.
I GOT YOUR BACK Award
Sponsored By Dr. Chandler and the Back In Action Team
Student criteria:
- Be a graduating high school senior or an adult student
- Be chosen by your parent/guardian, teacher, or guidance counselor or someone from the community as one who demonstrates independent living skills and respect for self, for others, and for learning
- Students must be enrolled in a 2 or 4 year college/university, vocation program, or certificate/ licensure program
- Reward: $50 Wal-Mart gift certificate to help support independent living skills
RESPECT THE DREAM AND LEARN Scholarship
Purpose: To support and reward high school students, including students in alternative schools and special education programs, who demonstrate respect for themselves, for others, and for learning.
A V.I.S.I.O.N. of Excellence Scholarship
(Vision In School and In Our Neighborhood)
Purpose: To enable educators, governments, businesses, civic leaders, churches, and religious institutions to help fund and support students with scholarships to two or four-year colleges/universities or vocational schools. Upon graduating from or completing their accredited programs, students will be offered employment opportunities with local businesses and organizations.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY Scholarship
Purpose: To support the careers and education of students with disabilities.
FRANKIE "BEAR" WASHINGTON, JR. Memorial Scholarship
Purpose: To support a graduating senior who is currently making a difference in his or her school, neighborhood, community, church, or religious organization through volunteerism or family support.
THE WHOSOVEVER - A GOOD SAMARITAN Award
Purpose: To acknowledge and reward students and individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty to demonstrate random acts of kindness to whosoever.
THE RESPECT Initiative
These initiatives teach and challenge students to appreciate the sacrifices that people of all races have made and are now making in order for them to be able to receive a quality education.
