The Plow Newsletter - "Leadership That Works"

Dear Clayton,

I am a firm supporter of youth and education, and it is from this perspective that I want to talk to you this month…When my sibling and I were growing up, we didn’t have much, but my parents would drive us through nice neighborhood and college campuses to inspire us to dream. They’d take us to far away places, simply by reading books about different places and cultures. Through these experiences, my parents were exposing us to what life could be and they encouraged us to pursue the future with all diligence!

It is not what you give children that make them great; it is what you
pour into them that make them great!

…Surround your children and grandchildren with positive thinkers and successful leaders so they will develop courage, imagination and desire. King David said in Psalm 127:4, "As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children…"

Just as arrows, we must aim our children in the direction we want them to go. We must expose them to opportunities, encourage them to shoot for the stars and then release them to make their mark. That’s what Jacob did with Joseph when he gave him the coat of colors. Joseph went around looking like a king, feeling like a king and believing he could be king.

We cannot develop a successful generation, if we don’t expose our children to success!

Exposure is everything! Once Children have been exposed, they won’t be satisfied with less. How can they become a great chef if they have never tasted a great meal? How can they become intellectual if they are never exposed to higher learning? How can they dream of moving out of the ghetto if they are never exposed to better neighborhoods?

…Join with me, as we prepare our children for the life God intends.

Yours in Christ,
T.D. Jakes
