Our Impact

Our long-term initiatives and efforts have improved student attendance and academic performance, reduced disciplinary issues, including out-of-school suspensions, and enhanced mental health and well-being through social and emotional learning (SEL). Over the past 29 years, we have consistently provided families and students with ongoing employment opportunities, scholarships, and cheerful giving and support, which has had an estimated economic impact of over $100 million, significantly benefiting families, students, and communities. We give ALL the Glory to GOD for everything HE has done and continues to do daily!

Congressman John Lewis

“I support Mr. Washington’s and [Manners First Education Initiative] efforts to expand and implement the C.L.A.S.S. initiative in other schools and after school programs in urban and rural areas. He and his initiative are dedicated and committed to serving all students, including those with disabilities, ESL students, and at-risk students.”
– Congressman John Lewis

Parents/guardians
“Thank you for all of this information. This is wonderful. When my son was at Christiana, I never received any of this information. What a help. Thanks for all of your help. Have a great summer.”
– Parent-CHS

Students
“You have really helped not only me but a lot of students get a job and find work. I know we can give you such a hard time but you’re still so kind hearted. I wanted to say thank you! and give back. I hope you and your family have a great New Year!”
– high school student

Higher Education Student
“I am writing to you because I took your “BAMS 205-010: Problems and Challenges Facing Education in Public Schools” during the summer, during my final solution project I focused on building a charter school called “Diamonds in the Rough Academy for Girls of Color” while honing in on the systemic injustices faced by girls of color that hinder them from achieving educational success. Through that project, I developed a research interest in gender, race, delinquency, and education to further study issues that hinder girls of color in the educational system to further continue some of the topics that I discussed in my final solution project.
During my time in your class, I feel that your teachings in institutional and systematic issues that are facing students of color has led me to want to further pursue research in this area of interest, in the hope of finding a solution that could close the gap among students of color.”
– University of Delaware Student-Course Problems and Challenges Facing Education in Public Schools-BAMS 205-010.

Your love for kids and doing what’s right makes you the special person you are Best of Everything!”
– Karen Hruz – Teacher of the Year
